The government recommends two to four servings of fruit and three to five servings of vegetables daily. Serving examples include three-fourths of a cup of juice, a medium apple or a half-cup of chopped vegetables.
This has been known as the NCI’s 5 a Day Program, which has not been successful! Obesity is highest in those who eat the fewest vegetables.
Only 12% of us eat 5+ a day, and 50% of us eat 1 or 2. Fruits and veggies (including low carb veggies) are the cornerstone of cancer prevention and weight loss.
