This Thick Yogurt with Strawberries, Toasted Almonds & Whole Grain Granola breakfast recipe is speed and simplicity. Our double whammy of flavor makes this berry berry good to you, so you get strawberries two ways. What a luscious way to start the day!
Preparation Time: 6 minutes
Servings 4
Ingredients:
4 cups fat free or low fat strawberry yogurt
4 cups quartered fresh strawberries
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
3/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1 cup low fat whole grain granola
Directions:
Spoon yogurt into 4 shallow serving bowls. Combine strawberries and brown sugar; spoon over yogurt. Top with almonds and granola.
Tips:
Check out the new granolas at your local market–many are whole grain, lower in fat and sugar, and higher in crunch than just a few years ago. I like it sweet, but you may not need the brown sugar–experiment and see.
Substitutions:
vanilla yogurt may replace the strawberry and walnuts may replace the almonds. If you have vanilla yogurt, intensify its flavor with a few drops of real vanilla extract, or even better, the inside of a real vanilla bean, scraped into the creamy softness. Also, soy yogurts are also increasingly available, and increasingly delicious.
