Soda Targeted in Fight Against Obesity
Long ago, we wondered whether sugar is the new tobacco…with government subsidies to farm and store it.
February’s issue of Pediatrics wonders that differently: it reports a study of 2300 8- 9 year old girls who kept 3 day food logs (free at www.drjohnlapuma.com, under Private Programs) annually for 10 years.
Milk drinking dropped by 25%. Pop drinking tripled over those 10 years..
And girls who consumed the most pop were heavier than those who consumed the least. No other beverage was close.
