Cold Relief
There’s a nasty cold making the rounds right now that I’ve seen take down friends and loved ones for weeks at time.
We all know there are myriad products that promise to reduce symptoms, from decongestants, cough suppressants, and pain relieving medicines. But we also know that relief is temporary and often comes with side effects.
The best defense is, of course, a good offense. We suggest following a natural path to preventing and treating those pesky colds. You’ll be happy you did.
Check out my tips for surviving a gnarly cold with natural medicine.
A Green Rx:
Air Cleaning Plants
Having plants around is beneficial for so many reasons—but some plants pack a more powerful punch than others.
In our Plant With a Doc pilot program, we learned that air cleaning plants beat culinary herbs for effectiveness in relieving chronic stress, reversing burnout, and helping people fight workplace mental and physical health problems.
I was stunned that people in the pilot program chose and identified the rosemary and mint plants first, over the air-cleaning snake plant, lily of the valley, and draecena. Truth is, we simply don’t yet have the same level of familiarity with air-cleaning plants and their many benefits.
But thankfully, that seems to be changing. Air-cleaning plants have become so popular that there are now well-raised, healthy, you-can’t-kill-this collections of them on Amazon.
I like this organic foursome: the Costa Farms Clean Air Plant Collection , all of which help filter the air by releasing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide and other toxins…and add to beauty and awe at home, at work, at school, on a windowsill.
This Week’s Instagram-able Moment
I was privileged to present our nature-based burnout reversal program at the University of Chicago Law School last month as part of a panel on clinical ethics. Check out that list of participants—I was among some truly great company!
