PSA and the pomegranate…more than onomatopoeia.
New research at UCLA tested 50 men with prostate cancer who had surgery or radiotherapy and had PSAs less than 5 ng/mL and Gleason score less than or equal to 7 afterwards.
These men drank 8 ounces of pomegranate juice daily, and their PSAs doubled almost 4 times as slowly, after an average of 3.5 years…instead of the usual 1.25 years.
PSA doubling means cancer recurrence in men with prostate cancer, here dramatically slowed, nearly triple the time.
And their cancer cells died more quickly, in their bodies.
8 ounces of pomegranate juice is about 120 calories, less than most juices, and very high in antioxidant capacity.
